MY COMPUTER JOB
Boy, It’s been a heck of a week. I work as a secretary at a computer technical support place. The problem is I don’t know the first thing about what the technical guys do. When I applied for the job I expected that I would catch on really quick. I didn’t let on that I had no clue what they did there. Well, I have been here for almost 6 months now and I am just as stumped as I was on my first day here. These people call asking for a quote on how much some sort of tech work is and I can answer that by just checking the price on the work order spread sheet, but when some daft person calls trying to tell me what is wrong with their computer I have no bloody idea what to tell them. I always tell them that the first available technician will call them back. I’m surprised I haven’t been fired yet. Today some guy called and said he ordered a 6 piece computer system and needs to have all his information transferred to the new system. I told him that he would have to purchase our relocation software to do that. He starts getting all worked up at me. He said ‘what? I have to pay for that and for the tech to do the work, you people are ripping me off’. I told him if he thought so to go someplace else. I hope no one overheard that!
